Master the Board, Master Your Mind: Join The Academy Chess Club | Starts Sept 3rd, 2026
Master the Board, Master Your Mind: Join The Academy Chess Club
Calling all 1st–8th Graders! New Season Launches Thursday, September 3rd (3:30 PM – 4:30 PM)
Every move on a 64-square board is a hands-on masterclass in problem-solving. We don't just teach kids how to play a game; we use the physical chessboard to build the mental architecture they need for the rest of their lives.
Why Chess? Building Real-World Superpowers
Deep Critical Thinking: Students learn to pause, evaluate the board, and calculate consequences before making a move. We train them to replace impulsive reactions with focused analysis.
Strategic Long-Range Planning: From opening development to the final checkmate, players learn to set a vision, build a step-by-step plan, and adapt when their opponent throws a curveball.
Pattern Recognition For Life: The tactical patterns mastered over the board—pins, forks, and resource management—transfer directly into the logic needed for coding, engineering, math, and everyday decision-making.
Hands-On Resilience: In a world of screens, tactile board play teaches incredible life skills. Students learn focus, emotional regulation under pressure, how to win with class, and how to turn a loss into a learning opportunity.
The Mission: The "Target 1200" Milestone Whether your child is a 1st grader touching a knight for the first time or an 8th grader looking for competitive tournament prep, our curriculum is driven by a concrete goal: building confident, 1200-rated players.
At a 1200 rating, a student isn't just reacting—they are systematically commanding the board. We will guide them through:
Tactics & Traps: Recognizing forks, skewers, and discovering hidden attacks.
Board Control: Mastering opening principles and controlling the center of the board.
The Endgame: Understanding precise pawn geometry and king activity to close out a win.
Live Game Analysis: Reviewing their own hands-on matches to understand exactly why a strategy worked or failed.
